Dr. Julia Agapov, DO, MD, FAOCO, is Regional Medical Director of Ophthalmology and a board-certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma surgeon at SSM Health Davis Duehr Dean Eye Care. She specializes in glaucoma, cataract surgery, and complex anterior segment surgery. Dr. Agapov earned her DO from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship at Nassau University Medical Center, her ophthalmology residency at Metro Health Hospital/Michigan State University, and a glaucoma fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine. Before immigrating to the United States, she earned her MD from the Russian State Medical University in Moscow. Dr. Agapov currently serves as President-Elect of the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AOCOO-HNS), having previously served as Secretary-Treasurer. Her longstanding involvement with the College has also included service on the Board of Governors and as Ophthalmology Course Director. Beyond her clinical and College work, Dr. Agapov is committed to global ophthalmology and education. She participates in international surgical missions and educational initiatives focused on expanding access to glaucoma and cataract care and advancing ophthalmic surgical training in underserved regions.
